Hydrogen Sea - Automata
support Yusuf
The atmospheric, sacred songs of the Brussels-based Hydrogen Sea harbour echoes of Cocteau Twins and Laurie Anderson. For their project at deSingel, Hydrogen Sea are expanding their sound palette with musicians including violinist Patricia Vanneste (Balthazar) and the magnificent keyboard wizard Joris Caluwaerts (STUFF). As to who will be the guitar ‘legend’, that remains a mystery. Electronics have not disappeared from the stage, and it’s not the idea to go fully acoustic or unplugged. On the contrary. With ‘Automata’, Hydrogen Sea wants to move away from digital electronics and immerse itself in the analogue. This is a kind of reaction to the modern world in which digitisation and automation are beginning to raise questions about the role of humans. Come and be enchanted by a band that skilfully sculpts sadness.
