Against the War
Experience a powerful concert on war and hope with I SOLISTI and Chorwerk Ruhr.
We are living in turbulent times: war feels closer than we would like, and peace is more fragile than ever. In this four-part concert by I SOLISTI and ChorWerk Ruhr, the global unrest resonates through music that renders struggle, loss, and hope palpable.
The concert opens with war: Stravinsky’s L’Histoire du Soldat sets the tone, followed by haunting works by Weill and Eisler that convey chaos and destruction. Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht’s Berliner Requiem serves as a confronting highlight - an intense portrait of loss and despair.
The finale offers hope: music searching for peace and recovery. Poignant choral works by Schönberg and Hessenberg express the universal longing for harmony and calm - a breathtaking moment of beauty in a world filled with conflict.
The result is a concert that confronts, moves, and showcases human resilience.
