Ictus - Rosas

Counter Phrases is an evening of ten short films by Thierry De Mey, of ten 'danced sentences' by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, performed by Rosas dancers, with live music by ten contemporary composers. These ten films evoke the highlights of the twenty years' collaboration between De Keersmaeker and De Mey. It was all filmed in superb gardens full of blossom in impressionistic drizzle. Varied as the work and aesthetics of the ten composers is, this joint venture comes across as a strong and convincing whole, with the full complement of Ictus players and impressive surround sound in the auditorium. In a montage on three video screens, the associative power of the images is given free rein. Dance, music and sound enter into alliance: crossover at its best! This performance is part of Cluster #1.
