Il Giardino Armonico olv. Giovanni Antonini
Isabelle Faust viool Mojca Erdmann sopraan
Haydn’s overture for the opera ‘L’isola disabitata’ is a typical curtain-raiser, the ideal opener for a concert that combines one of the very best authentic orchestras with two of today’s greatest soloists.
Isabelle Faust will undoubtedly confirm this in her version of Mozart’s courtly masterpiece, the much-loved Fifth Violin Concerto.
After the interval, Giovanni Antonini will once again lead us through the early symphonic architecture of ‘papa’ Haydn in his Eighth Symphony, ‘Le Soir’. After that the soprano Mojca Erdmann will undoubtedly touch you with her interpretation of the modest concert aria ‘Solo e pensoso’. Haydn wrote this work based on a superb sonnet from Petrarch’s ‘Canzoniere’.
At the end of the concert you will hear the two soloists together in Mozart’s concert aria ‘Ch’io mi scordi di te’. You can expect an intimate musical moment, one to cherish.
