Maxim Emelyanychev and DE SINGEL, a match that continues to surprise. In previous seasons, he dazzled here both as the conductor of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and as a pianist in chamber music settings. This season, he returns with Il Pomo d’Oro, the Italian baroque ensemble of which he has been chief conductor since 2016. According to The Times, this promises to be another perfect match: ‘What made the performance special was the livewire conducting and harpsichord playing of the remarkable young Russian Maxim Emelyanychev, (...) as he cajoled edge-of-your-seat and beautifully expressive playing from his brilliant band.’
