Gypsy Baroque: dizzying mix of virtuoso baroque and 18th-century gypsy music.
Vittorio Ghielmi is one of the greatest gambists of our time. With his ensemble Il Suonar Parlante he often chooses cross-over projects. For Gypsy Baroque, together with gypsy musicians he presents a dizzying mix of virtuoso baroque and 18th century gypsy music. For this he visited Transylvania to explore the music that was played on the borders of the Austrian and the Ottoman empires. Music that inspired Mozart and Haydn for their Janitscharen compositions. Two Slovakian gypsy musicians, violinist Stano Palúch and cimbalom player Marcel Comendant, join this virtuoso orchestra and improvise to their hearts’ content.
