Institute for Living Voice 2010 olv. David Moss
Century Songs
The Institute for Living Voice is an international project in which Muziektheater Transparant focuses on the diversity and wealth of the vocal art. Every year, David Moss, the artistic head of this special initiative, brings together a group of vocalists of various genres and styles in workshops, concerts, debates and talks. He takes an exploratory rather than a teaching approach and addresses everyone who is interested in the human voice. The unique nomadic approach means the project is on each occasion the result of a new partnership with a town or city and its cultural scene. The teachers for this thirteenth project (the second at deSingel) are Ida Kelarova, John Norris, Michael Lentz, Mola Sylla and Jocelyn Smith. The project has previously been hosted by several towns in Flanders, but also by Melbourne, Buenos Aires, Berlin and Marseille. In this closing concert you will hear eight selected participants from the course perform 'Century Songs', an exploratory and nocturnal finale for Ars Musica in Antwerp. This work was initiated by the composer Joachim Brackx, director Wouter Van Looy and vocalist David Moss.
