Ivo Pogorelich is a pianist that you simply have to experience live at least once. Since he was catapulted to the international top after the Tenth Frederic Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw, the Croatian pianist lives up to his status every time. A status that pianist Martha Argerich - when she walked away angrily after Pogorelich was not admitted to the final of that particular competition - simply described as 'genius'. Now he is performing more again after a long silence, his interpretations continue to be remarkable, idiosyncratic and exceptional. At DE SINGEL you can see him at work during an exclusive recital with pieces by Schubert, Sibelius and of course Chopin. Although Pogorelich may have become softer and milder over the years, his playing is still ‘from a different planet’, as an enthusiastic reviewer recently put it.
