Jakob Bro / Midori Takada / Jesper Zeuthen / Marilyn Mazur
Jakob Bro presents music for connoisseurs with a tribute to Paul Motian.
The Danish guitarist and composer Jakob Bro refined his craft with none other than Paul Motian – his most recent album with ECM was even a tribute to the grand master. Bro himself makes music for connoisseurs. This is the case in his wonderful trio with Joey Baron and Thomas Morgan, but in fact it trickles through into all his projects. Time and time again, without any fuss or gimmicks, he manages to imbue a concert with the intimacy of a living room, with the audience as partners in a story that is told with fine brushstrokes. For this concert, he is joined by like-minded souls who are all unique musical personalities. In the first part of the concert, Jakob Bro and the Japanese multi-percussionist Midori Takada give a masterclass in improvisation. After that, Bro performs new compositions and numbers from his album Returnings with Mikkelborg, cellist Anja Lechner and percussionist Marilyn Mazur.
Prior to the concert you can enjoy the acclaimed documentary film Music for Black Pigeons. Cineasts Jørgen Leth and Andreas Koefoed followed Jakob Bro as he collaborated with artists including Lee Konitz, Bill Frisell, Joe Lovano and many others.
