The nice thing about recitals is that even seasoned Lieder lovers continue to discover gems. In addition to German and French songs it is also a delight to spend time in the world of English songs. Those of Vaughan Williams, for example, who, with his typically English ‘flavour’, gave a real boost to the English ‘art song’.
