Jazz Middelheim - Octurn Tribu Jam Nachten

The biannual Jazz Middelheim is a set fixture in the national and international world of jazz. Every two years the enchanting Antwerp Park Den Brandt attracts a wide audience of jazz lovers. Since the last time around, deSingel has expanded the festival with a night program, which immediately met with very lively public response. Every night of the festival, a number of musicians who performed at the festival that evening just drop in and join the in-house combo, which accompanies the jam sessions in the artist foyer. For the 2003 event, we opted for Octurn Tribu as the focal point to five adventurous nights of improvisation. The festival stars are sure to take up the local challenge. Tribu stand at the heart of the Octurn ensemble. Their music is rhythmic and intense, the rich sounds of trombone and baritone sax drive up the beats of the rhythm section. Their spice should bring down the house during the long jam session nights. In nice weather, the audience can also sit on the terraces outside the foyer.
