interview with Jean-Guihen Queyras and Lucrèce Maeckelbergh . 6pm. Blue Bar
Musical wizard Jean-Guihen Queyras likes to reach beyond the borders of classical music.
He regularly plays together with the Iranian Chemirani brothers. Both are masters of the zarb, the most important Persian percussion instrument. Queyras spent a great deal of his childhood in Algeria, where he was fascinated by traditional arabic music. Swept up by the acrobatic virtuoso rhythms of the Chemirani's, Queyras improvises on Mediterranean melodies remembered from his youth. Before falling into a trance, we will get to ask Queyras a number of questions about his passion for both old and contemporary music, who his major role models are, important moments in his career, etc. During this introductory interview you will get to see the likeable man behind this brilliant musician.
