Jukebox Bernstein
In November 1943, Leonard Bernstein, the very young assistant to the sick principal conductor Bruno Walter, made his debut in a sensational way with the New York Philharmonic. Fifteen years later, that same replacement had developed into one of the twentieth century's icons of classical music. With his compositions and performances, Bernstein managed to convey his passion for classical music around the world. The Bernstein Symphonic series is a resounding homage to the most charismatic conductor-composer in music history. He can no longer speak for himself, but his right-hand man, Craig Urquhart, enjoys talking from his personal experience of who Bernstein was. Together with the philosopher Ludo Abicht, Urquhart plays his favourite Bernstein records. The duty DJ is Fred Brouwers!
