Jukebox Britten

Virtually coinciding with Armistice Day, this performance of Benjamin Britten's 'War Requiem' by deFilharmonie recalls the senseless horror of the First World War and particularly the abysses of the human soul. For those wishing to know the bounds explored by Britten in his work, Jukebox Britten is the answer. Our host for the event, Annelies Beck, will be at the turntable and invites Piet Chielens (co-ordinator of the In Flanders Fields Museum, Ieper) and Martyn Brabbins (conductor and hands-on expert in British music) to play their favourite Britten records. At the same time, she will be asking them about their personal links to Britten's work and world.
