Julia Fischer Quartett
Beethoven, Janácek, Schubert
Each of the four brilliant musicians of the Julia Fischer Quartett has had a richly-filled career as a soloist and chamber musician. Moreover, as a group they regularly make time to enthusiastically tackle the highlights of the string quartet repertoire. This time they have chosen Beethoven’s brilliant ‘Harfenquartett’. Another stunning piece from this genre is Schubert’s ‘Rosamunde’ Quartet, a churning stream full of brooding emotion and thus absolutely perfect for the Julia Fischer Quartett. It hardly seems possible, but the passion flares up even more intensely in the ‘Kreutzer Sonata’, Janácek’s protest against Tolstoy’s conservative views on marriage and the role of women. This translates into profoundly shocking modernist music. Prepare for an emotional rollercoaster.
