In the song series at deSingel, you can encounter the established artist as well as the younger generation of song interpreters, because we believe that it is important to offer a platform to both. Over the past few seasons, the pianists Graham Johnson and Irwin Gage have presented a number of young singers and duos. We have asked the tenor Christoph Prégardien to introduce this promising new talent. He has selected soprano Julia Kleiter and pianist Hilko Dumno.
Julia Kleiter is not new to the concert platform. As a soloist, she has already sung under the baton of Claudio Abbado and Marc Minkowski. In the forthcoming season, she will participate in a number of Mozart productions with conductor Nikolaus Harnoncourt. This summer she will make her debut in the Salzburg and Edinburgh Festivals. Hilko Dumno has for a number of years been the official accompanist for the Prégardien masterclasses. The 'Italienisches Liederbuch' by Hugo Wolf (1860-1903) is a highlight of the German lieder repertoire. Simple Italian folk poems were the inspiration for the text by Paul Heyse upon which this collection is based. Forty-six songs about love, praising it in all its facets.
