The author Kader Abdolah and pianist Ralph van Raat take you on a literary-musical journey to the mysterious Orient.
Kader Abdolah came to the Netherlands from Iran in 1988. Since then he has developed into one of that country's most important writers. His novels, including 'The King' (2011) exude the atmosphere of the 'thousand and one nights'. In this concert Abdolah's storytelling converges with the colours that the French composer Charles Koechlin evokes in 'Les heures persanes'. Koechlin was a student of Fauré and teacher to Poulenc and converted his interest in oriental cultures into marvellous orchestral sounds and tranquil piano scores.
