Sigiswald Kuijken and La Petite Bande continue their voyage of discovery through the religious cantatas of Johann Sebastian Bach. The four cantatas presented in this programme were written by the great master to be presented on four consecutive Sundays
Each offers an in-depth consideration of the relationship between man and God, and a reflection on the ultimate human issue: our mortality.
As always, Sigiswald Kuijken opts for a limited vocal arrangement; the four singers cover all the vocal parts in both the arias and the ensembles. When choosing this performance option, it is essential to make an excellent choice of vocal quartet. With Gerlinde Sämann, Petra Noskaiová, Christoph Genz and Jan van der Crabben you can't get any better.
