Over the past few years, the world-famous violinist Giuliano Carmignola, along with the Venice Baroque Orchestra, has displayed an exceptional talent for performing Vivaldi and Pergolesi: CDs like 'Concerto Veneziano' and 'Concerto Italiano' have sold like hot cakes. In the meantime, the Italian master violinist has also developed a passion for the baroque music of the German-speaking world and has found the perfect partners in crime in director Wolfgang Katschner and his Berlin-based Lautten Compagney.
In deSingel, the German-Italian partnership will be focussing on Bach's violin concertos. The majority of them were composed in Leipzig, where the baroque giant was director of the Bachische Collegium Musicum. Of course, music had to be written for this, and as always, this resulted in some unparalleled jewels. Anyone who hears the famous Double Concerto will immediately concur. The score is a perfect embodiment of Bach's tremendous rhythmic and melodic strength.
