François-Xavier Roth is sometimes described as 'Special FX'. And this flashy sounding nickname suits him perfectly. Because thanks to his kaleidoscopic musical language, his punchy narrative power, and his whirlwind stage presence, a concert with his own orchestra Les Siècles is like an impressionist explosion in a Hollywood blockbuster. For this concert, Roth opts for the fairy-tale repertoire that garnered him both global fame and virtually all of Europe's key music prizes. He links Rimski-Korsakov's a-thousand-and-one-nights fairy tale set to music Scheherazade to Stravinsky's Petrushka. With his recording of that work, Roth previously won both the Edison Classical prize and the Deutsche Schallplattenkritik.
