Linus + Økland/Van Heertum/Zach

Musical improvisation is the art of constant change. The permanent generation and sharing of ideas and sounds. Guitarist Ruben Machtelinckx and reed player Thomas Jillings created their own unique Linus sound, which arises from an unusual harmony between folk, jazz, minimalism, chamber music and free improvisation. They do not play ‘jazz’ in the conventional sense of the term, but instead sounds that are embedded in European roots. During the summer of 2017, they recorded the fantastic album ‘Mono no aware’ in our Music Studio, which was nominated for Klara’s ‘world music’ category. For this, Linus collaborated with Norwegian guest musicians and the Flemish euphonium legend Niels Van Heertum. For this concert, they will continue with what the album set in motion at the place where it was recorded. Exciting stuff!
