Conducting the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Dima Slobodeniouk plumbs the depths of Sibelius' Concerto Bachtrack
The Violin Concerto by Jean Sibelius demands a virtuosity that pushes the performer to their limit. That’s why we’re bringing the Swedish wonder Daniel Lozakovich to Antwerp to conquer this masterpiece. At just twenty-two years of age, he is one of the youngest soloists ever to debut with the prestigious music label Deutsche Grammophon. The international company of London Philharmonic Orchestra and guest conductor Dima Slobodeniouk steer the concert in the right direction. On Instagram, the Finnish conductor introduces himself as 'Homo Sapiens (at least trying), father, pilot, sailor and curious’. Characteristics that may come in handy in Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 which takes a creative approach to the form of the genre. In the second movement, you feel as if you have ended up in an opera. After that, Tchaikovsky opens the dancefloor with a symphonic waltz, but he always wrongfoots the listener. The finale of the symphony is frank, grand and phenomenal.
