The London Symphony Orchestra and the unsurpassed Sir John Eliot Gardiner plunge into a picturesque adventure. It was Carl Maria von Weber who, with his mysterious operas, more or less launched German Romanticism, and both Schumann and Wagner regarded his overture to ‘Euryanthe’ as his greatest masterpiece.
Beethoven too speaks expressive language in his majestic Violin Concerto. With two prize-winning recordings to her name, Isabel Faust provides an international benchmark for this fiery concerto full of pathos and drama.
And in his ‘Rheinische’ Symphony, Robert Schumann evokes images of a carefree outing to the Rhineland.
We are absolutely delighted to be able to welcome the London Symphony Orchestra and its masterly conductor to Antwerp, 19 years after the orchestra’s memorable concert with Pierre Boulez at deSingel.
