Louise van den Heuvel Quartet gets carte blanche on JazzLab’s 30th anniversary.
To mark the 30th anniversary of W.E.R.F. Records and JazzLab, the young bassist Louise van den Heuvel was given carte blanche for a new project to which a tour and album were linked. The young Dutchwoman has caused a furore in recent years beside Zwangere Guy and Lander Gyselinck, as a member of Dishwasher (Jong Jazztalent Gent 2022) and alongside heavyweights such as Stéphane Galland, Bruno Vansina and Teun Verbruggen. She likes to draw inspiration from modern electronic jazz, and jumps with ease into numerous related genres. For Sonic Hug she surrounds herself with Hendrik Lasure, Sam Comerford and Daniel Jonkers, all stars of their generation. The goal is an electro-acoustic sound with Scandinavian influences in which there is space for groove and lyricism. Something to eagerly look forward to.
