Marc Ducret Trio/Mirabassi - Boltro - Ferris
Dubbelconcert
Ducret's trio is an intractable band that makes uniquely personal music which does not fit into the terminology or conventions of a single style. Their musical concept is highly organized, with unusual harmonies, extraordinary oppositions and cross-rhythms. Ducret's compellingly arranged solos are dynamically supported by bassist Chevillon's brilliant, rather flattering timing. It is clear that the intention of the musicians is to challenge one another: playfully, flexibly and with a great deal of freedom.
Mirabassi, Boltro and Ferris have all worked with prominent jazz musicians, composers and ensembles. As a result of their collaborations, the trio has built up a varied repertory in which standards are alternated with their own compositions. These are three improvisers who come together in chamber jazz, the most unadorned type of concert performance. The power of the trio is found in the extremes they achieve in the use of their instruments. They are innovative without being radical, making recognizable music that continually deceives the listener; these are fun songs that set one thinking.
