The NEOJIBA Orchestra is one of a growing number of South American orchestras to be enjoying increasing international renown. The orchestra gathers the best young Brazilian musicians and is the fruit of the far-reaching NEOJIBA programme, founded by conductor Ricardo Castro, which aims to encourage social integration in Brazil by making music at the highest level. None other than Maria João Pires, one of the greatest pianists of the past decade, is lending her support. Beethoven’s romantic Piano Concerto No. 3 suits her perfectly. The orchestra has also chosen to perform works by Brazilian composers including Antônio Carlos Gomes and the great Heitor Villa-Lobos. This concert brimming with South American flair is sure to be an unmissable discovery!

In the seasonal brochure we speak of Orquestra Juvenil de Bahia. At the request of the orchestra, the name has been adapted to NEOJIBA Orchestra.
