The young Brahms had a serious tussle with the notes of his First Piano Concerto. He was aiming for a symphony, but ended up with a concerto of monumental proportions. Just like Brahms, rising star Marie-Ange N'Guci combines youthful virtuosity with emotional maturity. Conductor Kristiina Poska has a particular fondness for the music of the High North. So Sibelius' First Symphony is a jewel in her hands.
