Mauro Peter & Helmut Deutsch
We invited them back immediately after their stunning performance of ‘Die schöne Müllerin’ last season. Because we simply cannot wait any longer to hear the marvellous tenor Mauro Peter and pianist Helmut Deutsch again. Peter’s career has in the meantime gone into overdrive. After his debut at the Wigmore Hall in London, he was offered concerts as far ahead as 2020. Such conductors as Harnoncourt and Gardiner are queuing up to work with him. Zurich and Salzburg will soon be followed by other major opera houses. But then tenors of this quality are rare. Mauro Peter has everything it takes: perfect vocal control, faultless legato, expressive timbres, dramatic insight and a naturally engaging presence. And above all a tremendous love of Lieder, well nourished and matured in the Lieder classes given by Helmut Deutsch, who now again accompanies him on the piano.
