Melodi - Divna Ljubojevic (Joegoslavië)
Orthodoxe gezangen
Divna Ljubojevic (°1970, Belgrad) was introduced to sacred orthodox songs in the Cloister of the Holy Virgin Annunciation as a child. She perfected the unique style prevalent at the theological seminary of Sremski Karlovci, as well as in ancient Russian songs at the conservatory of Novi Sad. In 1991, she founded the choir Melodi in the cloister of Vavedenje. Since then, she has been working on a repertoire of orthodox songs: archaic, monophonic Byzantine melodies, early polyphony and contemporary work. The choir accompanies the religious service at the cloister, but also regularly performs in concert. They have also recorded two CDs, which were met with due acclaim.
Besides this, Divna Ljubojevic is also working on two other projects: an interpretation of a Rossini mass with soloists of the Basel opera, and a collaboration with the Early Music Studio in the orbit of Purcell's Dido and Aeneas. Divna Ljubojevic performs as a conductor and soloist, accompanied by two bass baritones, two tenors, two contraltos and two sopranos.
