'A strong personality' and 'a beautiful, warm, technically perfect voice with a great deal of expression'. Nothing but praise for the young German soprano Mojca Erdmann. She has been well-known for a long time in her native country. She got her international break as Zelmira in Haydn's 'Armida' at the Salzburger Festspiele in 2007. She is among Sir Simon Rattle and Nikolaus Harnoncourt's favourites. Recently she has signed an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon: the beginning of a great and dazzling career! At deSingel she will make her Belgian recital debut with the gifted pianist Rudolf Jansen by her side.
Erdmanns slender, crystalline soprano voice is perfectly suited to the light, effervescent songs of Mozart and Debussy. In Schumann's insistent 'Mignon Lieder', Erdmann balances childlike innocence and erotic longing. She throws herself with total dedication into the disturbed world of Strauss' 'Ophelia' Lieder. Due to her warm timbre and flawless intonation, Mojca Erdmann is also much sought after as an interpreter of contemporary music. In 2006, Aribert Reimann dedicated his song cycle 'Ollea' to her.
