Montserrat Figueras - Rolf Lislevand
Different snare instruments played by Rolf Lislevand, during this recital, will accompany the infatuating voice of Montserrat Figueras. The program consists of Spanish love songs from different periods, starting with the late Fifteenth Century to the early Nineteenth Century. The evening will begin with a couple of Sephardic songs, exponents of the Jewish culture in the Diaspora, which developed in various places in Europe, after 1492. The largest part of the program consists of Renaissance songs from diverging composers as Luys Milán, Luys de Narváez, and Alonso Mudarra, next to music from the times of Lope de Vega (1562-1635) and composers such as José Martin, Juan Hidalgo, and Gaspar Sanz.
Songs by the guitar virtuoso Fernado Sor (1778-1839) will put the finishing touches on the recital. His Italian Ariettas are entertaining, delicate, and charming. The Seguidillas, on the other hand, are vivacious and occasionally funny. This all-encompassing program gives a good perspective on the Spanish song, with a repertory, which includes the intimate and the exalted.
