Naomi Beeldens
La Voix Humaine _
In ‘La voix humaine’, a woman is making a telephone call. From what she says we can make out that that she is grieving for a lost sweetheart. The day before he was to marry, she had a conversation with him that was repeatedly interrupted. She creates a web of words and it is as if she herself inhabits it. The words express her fear, her loneliness, her longing, her obsessions. But however much she says, even more remains unsaid.
Naomi Beeldens has long been involved in many Transparant projects. She performed in ‘Porcelain’ and for many years took part in the youth operas. For her graduation project at the Conservatoire in Antwerp she chose as her starting point this intriguing masterpiece by Francis Poulenc and Jean Cocteau. The pianist and composer Jeroen Malaise is her musical partner in this project. Wouter van Looy is coaching her in her mad monologue.
