Oxalys & Stefaan Degand
Peter en de wolf
You will doubtless think back with pleasure to your first ‘Peter and the Wolf’, which is many people’s first experience of classical music. Prokofiev’s musical fairytale dates back to 1936, when it was commissioned by a youth theatre in Moscow. The tale of a brave young boy, who encourages everyone to act together and who conquers evil in the form of a wolf, has socialist overtones. But ‘Peter and the Wolf’ can also be appreciated without its political message.
Prokofiev’s musical fairytale is still a treat for the ears today. Each character is represented by a different theme and instrument. What better way to be introduced to the symphony orchestra? Featuring the actor Stefaan Degand (known for ‘De Ronde’, amongst others), this is guaranteed to be a lot of fun. He takes on the role of the cat, and the duck, and the bird, and Peter, and grandpa. But can he also play the wolf?
