Peter Vermeersch & Flat Earth Society

After the international success of the film concerts 'The Oyster Princess', 'Minoes' and 'My Queen Karo', Peter Vermeersch will take up a new challenge to give free rein to his talent for composing film music. To cement the unity of image and sound, he has collected images from a wide variety of film archives together with film-makers, collectors and film curators. For Vermeersch, composing already starts when he collects and assembles these varied visual extracts into an exciting whole. The final result is a fascinating non-stop eighty-minute 'image and soundtrack'! Several themes and atmospheres may be tackled in these five sets of images. A set may consist of one homogeneous (short) film or it may be a montage of varied source material. This treatment allows for greater flexibility, both in content and structure. The film concert becomes a larger whole of which the individual sets are a part. The order and the number of sets can be adapted to every situation. Additional sets can also be added in the future. In this way, every new concert after the first performance in deSingel will be a surprise!
