The second day of 'Mein Verlangen' will begin with an intimate chamber concert. The gamba player Philippe Pierlot includes 'Tombeau for Mr de Lully' by Marin Marais with two sonatas for gamba and continuo by Johann Sebastian Bach. Jean-Baptiste Lully (1632-1687) had been dead for fourteen years when, in 1701, Marias dedicated this commemorative piece to his teacher and conductor. Was it because Lully was not so much adored by French musicians at that time that made Marais waited so long before he decided to publish this work?
In the hands of outstanding baroque musicians such as Pierlot, Zipperling and Hantai you can expect an intense concert that sets the tone for a Bach-day of diverse programming.
