Music. Film. Words. Pieter Embrechts. And a number of ordinary people with an exceptional story. These are the ingredients of ‘A Street Concert’, a musical documentary on the inhabitants of Turnhoutsebaan in Antwerp. About people who live together, neighbours who either know or do not know each other, born and bred in Borgerhout or on the other side of the world. About individuals who each try to sustain themselves in their own way. Pieter Embrechts creates moving and honest portraits. Minor but exceptional stories, not without humour or tragedy, like life itself.
In preparation for ‘A Street Concert’, the Gazet van Antwerpen newspaper commissioned Pieter Embrechts to explore Turnhoutsebaan with a camera for ten weeks. Every week he sent in videos of his encounters. You can see these films at www.gva.be/turnhoutsebaan.
