Quatuor Alfama & Lotte Mariën
De droom van Ariane - De geschiedenis van het strijkkwartet
The actresses Ariane Rousseau and Quatuor Alfama have been winning over children’s hearts in Wallonia and France with the performance ‘Le rêve d’Ariane’. And now you can join us for the première of the Dutch-language version.
Lotte Mariën and Quatuor Alfama explain the history of the string quartet in a story aimed at children. The young Ariane falls asleep in her tree house. She hears a deep voice, which is then joined by a second, higher voice. An even higher one joins in, and then another. These are four string instruments, and the string quartet is born.
The story begins in Vienna. ‘Papa’ Haydn paints a sunrise and a galloping horse. Not with paint, but purely with sounds. Three other gentlemen – Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert – also cross Ariane’s path. The musical journey continues, via France and into Russia. In the meantime, she is continually travelling forwards in time, and she ends up close to home, with our ‘own’ composer Frédéric Devreese. Ariane wakes up. But she only needs to close her eyes to hear her new friends again.
The première will also include the launch of the Dutch translation of the beautifully illustrated book ‘De droom van Ariane’, which includes a CD. So you can experience it all again at home.
