IMPORTANT CHANGE!
Due to illness, the pianist Cédric Pescia unfortunately cannot take part in this concert. We are however delighted that Markus Groh is prepared to replace him at such short notice. One item on the programme will be changed. Instead of Bloch's First Piano Quintet, Markus Groh and Quatuor Terpsychordes will play Schumann's Piano Quintet.
An Italian man, a Bulgarian woman and two Swiss. They came across each other a good ten years ago at the Geneva Conservatory. However, in the language of the string quartet these four players managed to understand each other perfectly. Under the guidance of the great quartet guru Gábor Takács-Nagy, they developed a profound closeness and immersed themselves in the inexhaustible repertoire from the classical to the contemporary. In addition, they specialised in period instruments at the centre for early music in Geneva. The result is an extremely versatile quartet; perfectly coordinated, who combine technical finesse and sound subtlety with a strong sense of style.
They are the ideal interpreters of Haydn and Schubert. Together with pianist Cédric Pescia, the Quatuor Terpsycordes are like ducks to water in the scintillating 'Trout Quintet'. The performers share their love of the Jewish-Swiss composer Ernest Bloch. His First Piano Quintet, written in 1923, deserves a permanent place in the chamber music repertoire.
