1h 10' Together with the American director Josh Armstrong, the British composer and producer Oliver Coates found inspiration for his multimedia show ‘Shorelines’ in the 1953 flood. They explore the beauty and destructive power of the sea at a time of climate change.
Following a devastating storm and flood, the Ragazze Quartet is isolated from the rest of humanity. Can they survive? Even if no one knows they are still alive? Coates adds electronic improvisations and field recordings. The live music interacts with recorded sounds such as ships’ horns and excerpts of the voices of survivors. In this way a poetic landscape of music and images is created. The artist and former fashion designer Christophe Coppens designed the stage setting and costumes.
