Reigakusha Gagaku Ensemble & Ictus . Georges-Elie Octors - geannuleerd
Gagaku, the traditional music of the Japanese Imperial Court, is the oldest form of orchestral music in the world. In Japan, its history goes back more than thirteen hundred years. 'Gagaku' means elegant or ethereal and refers to a conjoining of dance music (bugaku) and orchestral music (kangen). Performances are given during banquets and ceremonies at the imperial palace and Japanese theatres.
The Flemish composer Frederik D'Haene was led to study gagaku music through his passion for Japanese art and music. In 'Music with silent aitakes', he has undertaken a unique experiment in the history of music: for the first time, you will be hearing a contemporary Western music ensemble and one of the best Japanese gagaku ensembles playing together on the concert podium. D'Haene does not attempt a fusion or crossover, but rather to have two styles co-existing in mutual respect for each other's logic, playing techniques and listening habits.
You can experience this fascinating experiment after a performance of traditional gagaku played by the Reigakusha Ensemble.
