introduction Rudy Tambuyser . 7.15pm . Bar De Kunsthaven
His name pretty much speaks for itself. Every time Richard Goode takes his seat at the piano, you feel as if you are one step closer to the good, the true and the beautiful. Everyone who has heard this brilliant pianist at work, even the most severe of critics, is in awe and feels ennobled after his playing.
During this five-day residence in deSingel you can experience Richard Goode in different environments: firstly as a pianist, then as a teacher-mentor in public master-classes and as a speaker in a lecture-recital. His master classes are not only restricted to technique and attack, but he will also teach the students how to really listen to the music. He will introduce them to ways of getting to grips with the composer's ideas and communicating them to an audience. During this lecture-recital Goode analyses his favourite Beethoven sonata. He plays it and explains how Beethoven pushed back musical boundaries in his 'Lebewohlsonate' to unleash his innermost feelings. An unforgettable listening experience!
