Simon Steen Andersen

For the Danish composer Simon Steen Andersen (1976), the physical properties of an instrument and the musician's movements are intrinsically linked to sound. His compositions are in fact choreographies for instrument and musician that result in a specific sound: movement becomes sound. Andersen demonstrates this by way of his composition series for solo instruments and the video film 'Next to Beside', performed by the violinist Marieke Berendsen.
