The phenomenal ensemble playing of the Sitkovetsky Trio creates the impression that all three grew up in the same warm nest. But in fact they had to cross the world to meet each other. And fortunately they did! Because even though the two repertoire pieces on their programme are very familiar, you have never heard them played like this.
The great classic is Schubert's First Piano Trio. Splendid dialogues alternate with penetrating solos. But it is above all the ingenious, triple partnership between the instruments that triumphs. In its turn, Ravel's Piano Trio sketches a typically French magnificence of colour. Sometimes these three musicians seem like a small orchestra. Lastly, in the work by Turina, a sultry, rather contrary south wind picks up. Its sparkling rhythms and capricious melodic turns serve only to inflame the delight the Sitkovetsky Trio derive from playing.
