Solomon’s Knot

No conductor. No artistic director. No scores. That sounds like a recipe that’s doomed to fail. But in this case, with the British ensemble Solomon’s Knot nothing could be further from the truth. Collaboratively, indivisibly like the decorative link that gives the group its name, musicians and singers decide which music they want to explore. This time, that teamwork led them to three liturgical pillar pieces; Bach’s Missa brevis Bach, Handel’s Dixit Dominus and Scarlatti’s Stabat Mater. All-too-familiar texts, which in the mouths of these ingenious, innovative musicians sound astonishingly refreshing. In their unambiguous, unparalleled way, they imbue this age-old repertoire with an absolutely contemporary flavour. Their debut album was overloaded with stars, but above all, these are performers who you must experience live.
