1h 30' Two creations by ChampdAction’s in-house artists, together in a double bill. Sound artist Hans Beckers created his second sound installation along with jazz drummer Teun Verbruggen. In ‘Sonitum Voda’ the sound of water and steam plays a central role. With its bubbly rhythms, hissing steam and sloshing melodies, the work seeks out the boundaries between music and performance, sound and image. Stefaan Quix and the percussionists from his ensemble Quixtet create a performance about the most primitive rhythm. About people sitting in a circle, as they would have done in ancient times, and forming a single group of which the group as a whole is greater than the sum of its parts. In a post-digital, hyper-modern world, people and machines work together, so things happen that are impossible for a machine alone or for humans alone to achieve.
The concert begins in the Music Studio with Stefaan Quix’s first part. After this, the audience moves to Hans Beckers’ installation in the Small Room for a performance by Hans Beckers and Teun Verbruggen. Finally we return to the Music Studio for Stefaan Quix’ second part.
