With his new trio, jazz drummer Stéphane Galland explores a configuration in which rhythmic elements are given absolute priority. The music has an energetic, yet simultaneously fragile and atmospheric undertone, and whenever complexity is sought, it is always in pursuit of new experiences and grooves. The various timbres made possible by this ensemble will doubtless steer Galland’s yearning for new musical adventures in fresh directions. The result is a process of becoming that needs time to fully mature, but the essence of the trio is already powerfully present.
