The Takács Quartet plays Beethoven. These words are enough to make you hanker to see these masters of the string quartet. Critics have run out of superlatives to praise their profound interpretations of Beethoven's string quartets.
"Art requires that we never remain motionless," said Beethoven. Words which the Takács Quartet take to heart. Even if they are familiar with these quartets, each performance is nevertheless slightly different. At every juncture, the Takács Quartet finds new angles and perspectives.
During the concert you will hear a quartet from each of Beethoven's three periods. Three unrivalled highlights illustrate the dazzling range of his mastery of composition.
Second violinist Karoly Schranz underwent rotator cuff surgery to his right shoulder in March and will resume concerts from September 2010. The members of the Takacs Quartet are extremely grateful to Lina Bahn for replacing Karoly Schranz for the Quartet's concerts during May.
