God save the King's! For more than forty years, the King's Singers have set the tone (as it were) in the 'a capella' world. Their trademark since their very early years has been a colourful mix of styles and genres: sublime Renaissance polyphony, unspoiled folk melodies, German Romantic or hilarious arrangements of the Beatles or Amy Winehouse. And always with pure class: flawless intonation, impeccable close harmony, spot-on articulation and incisive timing. They are also consummate entertainers with typically British wit.
In this concert, they take us on a musical voyage of discovery through English history, the focus being on illustrious musical twosomes. The range is from 'Tudor England' (sixteenth-century) motets by Thomas Tallis and his pupil William Byrd; through 'Victorian Age' songs from the topsy-turvy comic operas of Gilbert and Sullivan; via religious anthems from the early-twentieth-century choirmaster Edward Bairstow and his pupil Gerald Finzi; to recently composed madrigals for the golden jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. Or, to put it differently, from the cathedral to the pub, via the Royal Palace and the Savoy Theatre, and back - all in one evening! Only possible with the King's Singers.

Byrd, Tallis, Gilbert and Sullivan, Bairstow, Finzi, Talbot, Goodall, Pook, close harmony selection, and others.
