As a teenager Tigran Hamasyan was praised to the skies by jazz stars such as Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea and Brad Mehldau. In his compositions he achieves a very personal, original sound that draws on multiple influences, whilst his Armenian background always remains audible throughout. The Call Within is his most energetic album to date. He describes it as an epic journey through his imaginary world. Hamasyan finds inspiration in antique maps, poetry, Armenian folk tales, astrology and petroglyphs, and thus blurs the boundaries between reality and the imagination. Expect hypnotic music that navigates between exuberant rock riffs and dreamy soundscapes.
