The Wiener Symphoniker is amongst the world’s best for the German Romantic repertoire. Led by iconic conductors such as Richard Strauss and Herbert von Karajan, the orchestra grew became the leading champion of the music of Johannes Brahms, amongst others. In this role, the orchestra performs with renowned Danish violinist Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider who won the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 1997 at the tender age of 21.
With Brahms’ Violin Concerto, Szeps-Znaider has chosen one of the most demanding pieces in the repertoire. Not only does this masterpiece demand a high degree of virtuosity, but also a refined soloist who is prepared to enter into an intimate dialogue with the orchestra. Szeps-Znaider has already made a much-admired recording of this Violin Concerto with the Wiener Philharmoniker.
